Auckland Council District Licencing Agency

Auckland Council is an agency for the Liquor Licensing Committee in Wellington who issues licences.

The requirement for licences and the criteria the Committee consider in granting them are set out in the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 and Regulations. These can be obtained from Bennetts Government Bookshop, Auckland Institute of Technology, Commerce House, 360 Queen St, Auckland Central or view the act and its amendments online by visiting http://www.legislation.co.nz/

The sale of liquor to the public or any member of the public requires a licence under the Sale of Liquor Act 1989.

There are 4 types of licences

A licence is issued to a named person, company or legal entity in relation to a premises or conveyance. Conveyances are vehicles such as aircraft, vessels, trains etc. A licence cannot be transferred from one person to another, or from one premises or conveyance to another.

Contact us if you plan on selling or supplying liquor to the public, as you will need to consider planning and building issues and any rules specific to your area. You will also need to talk to us about any requirements for kitchen, bar and toilet facilities.

Making an Objection

Auckland Central Licensing Office

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the Auckland Central Licensing Office, 35 Graham St, Auckland. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication
of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.

North Shore Licensing Office

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the North Shore District Licensing Office 1 The Strand, Takapuna. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.

Manukau Licensing Office

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the Manukau Licensing Office, 4 Osterly Way, Manukau. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.

Franklin Licensing Office

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the Franklin Licensing Office, 82 Manukau Rd, Pukekohe. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.

Waitakere Licensing Office

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the Waitakere Licensing Office, 6 Henderson Valley Rd, Henderson. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.

Rodney Licensing Office

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the Rodney Licensing Office, 50 Centreway Rd, Orewa. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.

Papakura

The application may be inspected during ordinary office hours at the offices of the Papakura Licensing Office, 35 Coles Crescent, Papakura. Any person who is entitled to object and wishes to object to the grant of the application may, no later than 10 working days after the publication
of this notice, file a notice in writing of the objection with the Secretary of the District Licensing Agency, Auckland Council, Private Bag 92300 Victoria St West, Auckland.
